Caty Crawford, Marketing Intern
All about me
For the longest, I thought I wanted to double major in English and Journalism — until I found out about the degree program of Integrated Marketing Communications. It combines all the best aspects of marketing and communications together to provide one cohesive message across different platforms. It allows me to be both creative yet formulated. It marries psychology with advertising. It makes business personal. It offers many different avenues of knowledge granting me the opportunity to continually grow.
I have my associate degree from Northeast Mississippi Community College and will have my bachelor's degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from the University of Mississippi in May 2020. Once I graduate from Ole Miss, I plan to earn my master's by attending Purdue's Communications graduate program.
Life in academia is providing me with the ever-growing knowledge that is required to have a career in marketing and communications. Chase Computer Services is enhancing my comprehension of said knowledge by offering me real-life experience while nurturing my desire to learn.
I think having one favorite movie is close to impossible! I like many different movies from a variety of genres. However, I can narrow it down to a top-three!
1. Shawshank Redemption — Shawshank is based on a novella by Stephen King. In my opinion, it is very similar to the novella (with a few exceptions) which is one of the reasons I like it so much. Also, I love the drama of this movie because it keeps you engaged and on your toes the entire time.
2. The Outsiders — The Outsiders is based on a book by S.E. Hinton. The book is my absolute favorite. So, I am a little biased when it comes to critiquing the movie. For a movie made in the '80s, it was very well done. It reflects the book well enough for me to claim that it is one of the best novel made film renditions I have seen. But, I must admit, watching the movie cannot replace reading the book, especially when you take the time to reread it in different phases of your life.
3. Mulan — The nostalgia, the strong female protagonist, the funny sidekick, and the catchy songs, what more can I ask for when watching a Disney movie?! It is an easy go-to for a lighthearted movie night.
My friends have described me as fiercely loyal, determined, and intelligent.
Superficially, I am proud of my 3.95 G.P.A. (out of a 4.0).
Moreso, I am proud of my growth through the years which enables me to be a better friend, daughter, and sister.
I go to bed early and wake up early!
